Terms and conditions
These terms are a translation of the Dutch original. Where the two differ, the Dutch version is the one that applies.
1. Who we are, and when these terms apply
These terms are those of Isotropic, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 42200290, reachable at info@isotropic.nl.
They cover work you commission from us directly, through the enquiry form on this site or by email.
If you buy something from our Etsy shop, Etsy's terms apply, including their returns policy and buyer protection. This page cannot override those.
2. Quotes and orders
- An enquiry is not yet an order. You tell us what you need, we send back a price and a lead time.
- The agreement starts when you accept that quote in writing or by email.
- A quote is valid for 30 days unless we agree otherwise.
- If the job changes after we have started, we agree a new price and lead time first.
3. Lead times
Any lead time we give is an estimate, not a deadline. If we are not going to make it we will tell you and agree a new date. If it drags on unreasonably you can cancel at no cost, to the extent we have not started work.
4. What to expect from a 3D-printed part
This is not injection moulding. A part matching the description below is the part you ordered, not a defective one:
- Print layers are visible and you can feel them on the surface.
- There is always some dimensional variation in a printed part. Tell us your critical dimensions in your enquiry and we will confirm up front what is achievable.
- Colours can differ from photos on a screen, and between batches of filament.
- A printed part is stronger across its layers than through them. How the part is loaded affects how strong it is.
- PLA does not tolerate heat or prolonged sunlight. If that matters for your use, say so up front and we will pick another material.
If you need tighter than this, we often can. Put the requirement in your enquiry and we will confirm beforehand whether we can meet it.
5. Fitness for your purpose
On custom work we make what you ask us to make. Whether the design suits the use you have in mind is your call, unless we have confirmed in writing that the part is suitable for a purpose you told us about. If you did tell us and we agreed to it, that is part of the deal.
Do not use our parts where failure could cause injury or serious damage, unless we have expressly agreed to it.
6. Right of withdrawal
Parts we make to your specification, meaning your own design, a modification of an existing model, or something we model from your dimensions or drawing, fall under the exception in article 6:230p(f) of the Dutch Civil Code. The fourteen-day cooling-off period does not apply to them. Once you accept the quote we start work, and the order can no longer be cancelled free of charge.
If instead you order a standard product from our existing range, that is not custom work and you do have the normal cooling-off period as a consumer. Those orders go through Etsy, so Etsy's returns policy governs them.
7. If something is wrong
We cannot exclude the statutory requirement that a product be what you are entitled to expect, and we do not try to. If something is not right, email info@isotropic.nl within fourteen days of receiving it, with photos and a description.
If the part demonstrably is not what we agreed, we will remake it or refund you, decided together. Damage from use, fitting or later modification is not covered, and neither are the points in section 4.
8. Liability
Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question. We are not liable for consequential loss, such as lost profit, downtime, or damage to equipment the part was fitted into.
That limit expressly does not apply:
- where we acted with intent or conscious recklessness;
- to death or personal injury;
- to the extent mandatory law does not allow it.
Nothing in these terms affects your mandatory rights as a consumer. Where a clause would conflict with those, that clause does not apply and the rest stands.
9. Files and designs you send us
When you send us a model, drawing or photo, you are telling us you have the right to have that part made. We do not check. If someone else turns out to hold rights in what you had us make, that is your responsibility and you indemnify us against claims about it.
Your files stay yours. We use them only to carry out your order and delete them after 30 days, unless you ask us to keep them for a repeat order. See the privacy statement.
Designs we create ourselves remain ours unless we agree otherwise in writing. You can of course use the part for what you ordered it for.
10. Payment
For work commissioned through this site we agree payment terms per order. On larger jobs we may ask for a deposit before starting. Prices are in euros.
11. Governing law
Dutch law applies to these terms. If we cannot resolve a dispute between us, it goes to the competent court in the Netherlands. As a consumer you can always bring a case before the court where you live.
12. Changes
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one in force when you accepted the quote. The date at the top of this page shows when we last updated it.
